Ms. Rios represents Hispanic physicians across the United States. She has lectured and published articles, received number awards from her peers and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Prior to her current position, she served as advisor for Regional and Minority Women’s Health for theDepartment of Health and Human Services. She also worked as a policy researcher for California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development.

President: Victor Rodriguez, DDS

Dr. Victor Rodriguez is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston, Texas. Dr. Rodriguez has been a member of the Hispanic Dental Association since he first started as a student member in 1994. He has been involved in the Association's leadership, both nationally and locally, in multiple positions and committees for many years. Dr. Rodriguez is very active in numerous dental organizations such as the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, and he holds current and past board and chairman positions in the Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, and Bay Area Study Club.

Dr. Rodriguez is very excited to be a liaison between the Membership Committee of the Hispanic Dental Association and newly forming professional chapters. The growth of new professional and student chapters is inspirational and motivational. He believes the grass root efforts of dentists, hygienists, assistants, and laboratory technicians at the local component level will be the key to success on a national level.

President: Norma Martinez Rogers, PhD, RN, FAAN

Overcoming the humble beginnings of growing up in public housing, Norma Martínez Rogers, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, associate clinical professor in the Department of Family Nursing at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, has received a new national honor. Dr. Martínez Rogers was installed as president of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses July 16 during the organization’s 33rd national meeting in Boston.

The A.H.M.H.P. is a not-for-profit tax exempt 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 1983 by a multidisciplinary group of Hispanic Mental Health professionals to address serious gaps in the mental health delivery systems affecting the Hispanic Community. Our members are Nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals of Hispanic backgrounds as well as non-Hispanic Mental Health professionals interested in Hispanic issues.

Suzanne M.L. Colin, Ph.D., is Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine, Co-Director of Child and Adolescent Psychology Externship Program and Senior and Supervising Psychologist, at NYU-Bellevue Hospital Center. She is the Past President of the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals and Chair of Legislative Committee (2008-2010), Member Advisory Committee New York City Suicide Prevention Consortium, Member Advisory Committee Minority Mental Health Coalition, Member New York State OASAS Constituency Group, Member Advisory Committee Latino Mental Health Conferences.

Immediate Past President: Miguel R. Hernandez, M.D.

Dr. Hernandez was born in 1973 and grew up in Ensanche Julia, Santiago City, Dominican Republic. He pursued his Medical Doctor degree at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), graduating in 1996. He is a member of professional associations and societies which include American Medical Association (AMA), American Psychiatry Association (APA) and Dominican Medical Association (DMA), Inc. of New York. He has been re-elected DMA president 2009-10 and is now DMA executive committee advisor 2010. In his commitment to help other doctors in need and serve the Hispanic community, he has emerged as one of the most influential and powerful voice in the DMA, which he has positively transformed with his hard work and visionary ideas during the last eight years.
